Other Forum Issues
two things
one: there probably needs to be a "clean up the forum" day every now and again to get rid of unused/old/irrelevant/redundant topics
and two: I think we need to put in a sub-category for the canberra trip, because its taking over the campaigns section

Good thinking for the canberra trip section, will do that. I'm not sure about deleting posts. The ones that aren't used are always lower than the ones being used...
What do others think?

Re: Other Forum Issues
Hey...
I guess it all just depends on how often we decide to run this whole forum thing-a-mabo. If we want it to go on for as long as possible, I think we should do a clean-up every now and then. Maybe if you didn't delete the whole topic (unless it was really irrelevant) but if we maybe did it at a meeting with a laptop or computer and then we could vote on what still needs to be there or not. It might get really messy and annoying if there are pages and pages of topics and posts that people have to sift through to get to the one they want, which might be at the bottom. You can't really count on people only wanting to be involved in popular discussions - they might bring something really legitimate up.
Oh no... I'm rambling. It's sort of hard to keep yourself in check talking to yourself like this.

Ok, I've found an automatic clean up I can do, if people think it's a good idea. It deletes topics if it's been 90 days since they've been written in. If someone want to write in it again, they just have to start a new one.
The other thing is tho that there's a search function, so if it get to be a long list, you can just use that.
Also, if it gets too unwieldy we can add more topics/subtopic sort of things...
???

Re: Other Forum Issues
i don't think its a good idea to have an auto delete, because, obviously, we might have a good thread that we want to keep. Perhaps we could just put up posts nominating threads for removal?

Re: Other Forum Issues
hey, rach, just wanted to confirm that we're using nomination for thread removal?

Re: Other Forum Issues
sounds good to me...
but maybe we should nominate on this thread (?) and have someone else second it? And if someone wants it to stay and they say so then it does...so we all have veto power?

Re: Other Forum Issues
OK... instead of putting (delete) at the bottom of all the threads which is annoying for everyone, put in THIS thread the topic name and where it is and I'll delete it. I'll automatically move events if the event was over a week ago and no one has commented...

Re: Other Forum Issues
I have a feeling that two topics have cropped up in one thread...
our "Visen.org" domain name is hosted by an American Company. (Most of them are actually) Depending on the host.. (so the people who have are address - then redirect to us) it might seem to more stringent proxy/internet school blocking software to pick-up on this, because it is non-local. Seeing as the company also hosts numerous other clients with content of any nature, it could be picking up the host, not our actual website...
The co.nr will remain for now - as there's no point of getting rid of it. Some of oour pre-2008 material (if any) or at least pictures still have the co.nr link...
