MINUTES Summary – Sunday 21st Dec

Brainstorm for ideas on potential anti-logging actions:
Campaigns to latch onto…
- Lobbying electorates that haven’t signed up to stop logging. (Melbourne Water Catchment Network www.melbournecatchments.org )
- Step It Up campaign
- Wilderness Society Brown Mountain campaign

Some ideas of things we can do as students…
- Animal costumes
- Chalked forests in the CBD
- Potted/moveable forest
- Mock lock-ons

Andrej/James’ Reflex Boycotting idea:
§ Make a resource kit full of everything schools need to make the easy decision to boycott Reflex paper and switch to a more ethical brand.
Kit might contain…
- Pre-written letter to be signed and sent to Reflex/Australian Paper outlining the reasons the school has decided to boycott their brands.
- Information Booklet (from FOE) on alternative brands
- All the contact legwork done
- Educationy resources for DIY workshops or assemblies
§ First approach VISEN/LEAP people to take it to their schools
§ Old VISEN people can act as mentors and motivators.

Do we want to have a stall at the Sustainable Living Festival?
- Rachael will look into booking either way.
- Hilary might be able to plug us on the radio!!
- Stalls cost many $$ (roughly 200) so we need to do dome fundraising if we want one.
Ideas for fundraising…
- Movie screening at the Nova (Nagida will book for early feb)
- Rooftop cinema screening?

End of Logging Season party in Warburton, sometime near the end of the logging season, possible Labour Day weekend, possibly at Tom’s house/camping.
- workshops
- brainstorms
- talks/report backs
- Greg Barber?

LEAP reunion / First first Friday of 2009!
§ Everyone from both LEAPs invited, doesn’t matter if their campaigns have been working, or whether they’ve come to meetings or not.
§ Friday Feb 6th
§ Need to do lots of ringing around near the end of Jan.

Canberra Trip / Power Shift:
- Daniel McNamara (aka D-Mak, aka Medium Dan) is official organiser of powershit at AYCC link)
- We can have VISEN contingent and possibly our own talks/workshop time.
- Probably going to merge the Canberra trip with powershift
Petition…
- allocate schools to people at the reunion in Feb.
- Bring along to Sustainable Living Festival if we get a stall or not.
