Switch Off Hazelwood
Hey!
So was looking up Hazelwood stuff for the events page (which is under the get involved tab, by the way), and saw that the rally starts at 11 on Sunday. I think Pheobe was checking out travel options...come up with anything yet?

Re: Switch Off Hazelwood
I have serious doubts if I will be able to attend. It’s the last weekend of the term hence they pile on the work and that includes a practice exam.

Here are the details about how you can get there....
TRAIN & SHUTTLEBUS
The Traralgon/Bairnsdale train to stops at Morwell, which is about 10km from the Hazlewood power station. Tickets are $13.70 full fare or $9.70 concession. Kids cost less. You need to make a reservation here.
According to V-Line “Reservations are compulsory on all inter-city train services – even if you are only travelling a short distance.” so don’t say we didn’t warn you.
You need to make a reservation here.

NOTE: there is only one train on Sunday morning that will get you to Hazlewood in time for the demo, and it leaves town at 8.30am.

No maja, so you can't come?! Well PROBLEM has occured for us too. I and others need to be home at an early'ish time if we're going on Sunday, the reason being that we have school the next day and heaps of homework. Probably 6 pm the latest. Is this a problem?
And... Does anyone know if there actually is a train that comes back to Melbourne from Hazelwood at that time?

There's a train from Morwell at 2:57...or something like that. It should get us home by 5. The only thing I'm not sure of is what time the shuttle buses will start taking people back...anyone know who we could call?
Re: Switch Off Hazelwood

Really sorry, wish i could. But I hope to hear about it all at our next Visen meeting.

Re: Switch Off Hazelwood
No worries guys!
I went...it was fairly fabulous!! Lots of people got arrested for jumping over a fence, but the news made it sound WAY more violent than it actually was.
It's made me think though...we've been trying the same protests, and rallies, and everything else, and they haven't worked for 20ish years. We really need to come up with something new. So, I'm thinking about a hunger strike. My housemates are pretty dead against the idea, but what do you guys think?

Oh! Woah! Totally did not mean that you guys should do it. Was talking about me. I agree it's too hard with under 18's. PLus, because I'm older it'd make me semi-responsible, and that would be bad.
I just meant what did you guys think hypothetically. As in, could it be effective?
