Targets Tag Team Empty Targets Tag Team

Post  Ellen Sat Nov 01, 2008 8:22 pm

Hi guys,
Ellen here. This forum and whole website look fab - well done!
The Australian Youth Climate Coalition is starting running a mini-campaign for November and we'd love you to get involved. It involves asking Kevin Rudd for stronger greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets. See message from Amanda from AYCC below. If you want to get involved email Daniel McNamara on dpmcna@hotmail.com
If you have facebook, join the group "Kevin Rudd: Climate Change Tag Team"
Thanks! Ellen.

In the next five weeks, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd will decide upon his carbon pollution reduction target for the year 2020. We need real targets, for real action, real fast. Whatever these targets are will frame climate policy, the emissions trading scheme and Australia's international approach for years to come - so it is very important we get it right! The question is: Will Kevin's target be bold enough to protect our future? We're calling on Kevin Rudd to cut emissions as deeply as possible, through a 5 week mini-campaign called 'Targets Tag Team'.

At every event Kevin Rudd goes to over the next 5 weeks – conferences, press events, speeches, openings and more - young people will be there to be present holding a banner with a simple message:
"YOUR TARGETS = OUR FUTURE" We need to remind him that inaction is not
an option.

YOUR ROLE
Your role is simple. If you register to be involved (with Daniel), he will contact you to let you know that Kevin Rudd will be in your city that day and let you know where you need to be and when. You will arrive, meet other participants, be provided with a t-shirt and a placard by the City Coordinator, and given instructions.
If you can get inside the venue, or get close enough to ask a question, you should ask him: "Will your 2020 carbon reduction target be strong enough to protect our future?"

If you can't get inside, being outside with the banner is good enough. We'll give you some media talking points in case media ask you questions.

Either way, make sure there is a photo taken of your crew doing their thing which we will display on our website. Also a media release will be sent out.

We'll only receive notice of these events the morning that they occur - so you'll need to be on-call and ready to respond at any time. Obviously you may not be able to attend all events (and some of you
have indicated particularly times of availability), however we hope that all of you can attend as many as possible - as this will make it very powerful! Conact Daniel to be involved dpmcna@hotmail.com
